Occupational Therapist |
My name is Carla Frantl and this is my first year as Occupational Therapist at Swallow School.
I graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 1999 with a BS degree in Occupational Therapy. I chose Occupational Therapy within the school system because I wanted to be a part of enhancing a student's ability to be successful in the learning environment. This includes working on handwriting and fine motor skills. There is nothing better than seeing the smile on a child’s face when he has been successful in achieving his OT goals.
I am married and have two children. My daughter is in 6th grade and my son is in 4th grade. They both attend Erin Elementary School, where I have been the Occupational Therapist for six years.

Computer Lab Assistant |
This year begins my 26th year in Education. For 16 years, I was in the Reading Dept. at Kettle Moraine Middle School, coupled with four years of Technology Support at Dousman Elementary. The last 10 years I have enjoyed working with Computer Technology at Swallow School. I also am involved with the Purchasing Department here.
My husband & I have three grown children and two young grandchildren (Michael 8 & Emily 10 years old). Our daughters are married and both live in Madison, while our son’s home is in Waukesha.
I grew up in Tennessee, and lived near Elvis for many years. My family has lived in Nevada, Ohio, Alabama and two towns in Wisconsin. I am a Lifetime Girl Scout and have had the JOY of being a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Den Leader & a Methodist Youth Leader, while our children were growing up.
Despite working with computers, I still prefer to write notes and letters by hand. I am an avid reader & listen to audio books, as I drive to school from our home.
During the summers I enjoy riding my recumbent Trike, paddling my Ocean Kayak, learning new software programs and doing research of our family’s genealogy. Each August, I go to an incredibly beautiful Girl Scout camp in Northern Wisconsin with 120+ Girl Scout women.

Guidance Counselor/School Psychologist |
|
Dear Parents,
It’s great to be back for my 12th year at Swallow School. I feel very lucky to be here and look forward to meeting as many new families as I can as well as seeing familiar faces. Though I’m kind of an “old hand” here, I’m sure lots of folks don’t know where I was before or what I’m like outside of school.
I grew up mostly in Menomonee Falls, WI, but moved around quite a bit between then and now. I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, my School Psychology graduate training at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, and my Guidance Counselor graduate training at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas. I lived in Las Vegas for eight years and worked there as a school psychologist for five years and as a guidance counselor for three years. After leaving Las Vegas to return to Wisconsin, I worked one year as a guidance counselor at Parker High School in Janesville. Then I came here.
I’ve always tried to keep busy with different interests. In my younger years, I was in both judo and wrestling, and placed in both for state and national meets. I’ve also done performing arts like theater and singing. More recently, with my wife, Chris, and our two adopted Chinese children, Jade (6) and Kai (5), I like to do rock climbing both in a climbing gym and on the bluffs at Devil’s Lake State Park.
My professional life has been dedicated to helping students live enjoyable, satisfying lives through healing whatever emotional stresses they experience and discovering their inner talents. At various times throughout my career, I’ve also served as an assistant wrestling coach, theater director, chess club advisor, rock climbing club advisor, student council advisor, and Forensics coach (competitive acting and speaking). Finally, I believe that the classroom teachers are our school’s most valuable asset and I work to support what they do well every day.

Instructional Resource Teacher / Special Education Director |
I’m excited to join the Swallow School District! Prior to joining the Swallow community, I was a third grade teacher at Tonawanda Elementary School in the School District of Elmbook. After three years, I transferred to Brookfield Elementary School to teach 4th grade for one year followed by a year teaching fifth grade. For the past five years, I have been an Instructional Resource Teacher at Brookfield Elementary. This position included gifted and talented programming, coordinating assessments, programming for math interventions, progress-monitoring and coaching teachers in differentiation.
I received a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and a Master’s degree in administration and curriculum from Cardinal Stritch University.
My supportive husband and adorable daughter keep my life balanced, and I find myself scrapbooking, reading, and running in the summer months when I have some spare time.

Speech/Language Pathologist |

Hi! My name is Sarah Sarchet. I am the speech therapist at Swallow School and work with students beginning at age three all the way up to 8th grade. I am in my 6th year here working at Swallow. I actually attended Swallow School from kindergarten through 8th grade. It is amazing how it has grown and changed, but also wonderful how the passion for learning and commitment by the staff, families and students has stayed the same.
I attended Arrowhead High School and then went on to Liberty University in Virginia and got my Bachelors in Psychology. I came back to Wisconsin and went to graduate school at Marquette University. I received my Masters of Science in Speech and Language Pathology. In addition, I hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
I am married to a wonderful man, Jason, and have two precious children, Caden and Kylie. We live in Oconomowoc and love spending time as a family. Besides being a speech therapist, mother, and wife, I also enjoy spending my time cooking, reading, and playing all kinds of sports.

Office Support/Aide |
Hi! My name is Dianna Van Mullem. I grew up in the area and graduated from Sussex Hamilton High School in 1984. I've lived in Wisconsin my entire life and have been married to my wonderful husband Al for the past 25 years, almost 26 years. We have three wonderful children - Matthew (25), who currently lives in Melbourne, Australia; Taylor (20), who attends U. W. - Waukesha; and Hailey (16), a junior at Hamilton High School (where her dad and I graduated from).
I have worked at Swallow School for the past 11 years and I enjoy it very much! Being a part of the kids lives is more of a gift, than a job. Currently, I'm a student at U. W. - Waukesha, and am seeking an Associate's Degree in Education (Teacher Assistant). I'm looking forward to many more awesome years at Swallow School!

Coordinator of Teaching & Learning |
Swallow School has been my special teaching spot for many years – 22 to be exact! Initially, I began my tenure at Swallow as a reading/gifted and talented teacher, then moved into the classroom as a first grade teacher, next took over as Swallow’s kindergarten teacher and stayed there for several years.
A few years back the opportunity to return to a position as Reading Specialist offered me the unique position to help all the children, many of whom were in my kindergarten classes, and the staff at Swallow in a wide variety of capacities. Most recently I became the Coordinator of Teaching and Learning – a wonderful way to link all my experience and expertise in education to that of a teacher leader.
When I began at Swallow School, there were approximately 170 students and one section of each grade. Today, even with an enrollment at 600 students and three sections of each grade, Swallow still maintains a child-centered family connected culture – a place I love to call “my school".
