I am honored to have served our school community in the role of Superintendent since July 2011. I began my career as a high school social studies teacher in 1998 and taught a myriad of courses at Hortonville and Hartford High Schools. In 2003 I became an Assistant Principal and Activities/Athletic Director at Waukesha South High School and in 2008 the Principal of Waukesha West High School.
During my educational career, I have presented on Hate Groups, Diversity, Adolescent Literacy and School Improvement, Differentiation, Student Use of Technology—Implications and Lessons for Schools, and Cyber bullying and Social Interaction with Technology– How to Talk to Your Child, the Master Facilities Planning Process and Community Engagement, facilitated strategic planning for school districts and organizations, and serve as a search consultant for districts seeking new superintendents. I also really enjoy and am frequently asked to present to aspiring administrators at local universities.
My Bachelor’s degree is in Psychology from Lawrence University, and both my Master’s and Ph.D. degrees have been earned in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children, doing landscaping and home projects, reading, and exercising in my time away from work. |

I am excited to be Swallow School District’s Director of Business Services. I will strive every day to create maximum value for our community and opportunities for students through efficient and effective operational processes and strategic financial management –always keeping Student First.
I earned both my Bachelors of Business Administration and my Master’s Degree in School Business Management from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I started my career as the School Business Manager for the Spooner Area School District. For the past two plus decades I have been Co-Owner and President of Dousman Transport (DTC), a school bus company with 10 locations and over 400 employees in southeast Wisconsin.
I am married to my best friend Amy and have three grown boys – Evan, Nathan and Gavin. The oldest are identical twins and are recent college graduates. My youngest is at UW-Madison pursuing a degree in Analytics and Statistics. Amy and I enjoy being active, especially camping, hiking and spending time with our boys (and two dogs). |

Assistant Principal & Curriculum Coordinator |

I am delighted to serve the Swallow School community as the Assistant Principal/Curriculum Coordinator. I began my career as a middle school social studies/literacy teacher in 2012, teaching at Horning Middle School in Waukesha. Then, moving to Sheboygan Falls, I continued to teach both literacy and social studies, as well as taking on leadership positions in data analysis, mentoring of new staff, curriculum development, and instructional coaching.
During my educational career, I have presented on inclusive instruction, worked with the DPI in the review of Forward Testing exams in the areas of literacy and social studies, consulted on the development of online educational modules for ETS, reviewed textbooks for the state, and worked with historical societies in connecting local history to the classroom. I have also been heavily involved in the high school debate/forensics community as a coach for the past 15 years, guiding numerous students to national tournaments.
My Bachelor’s degree is in Secondary Education English/History from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I later received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Carroll University in Waukesha. As a husband to a hard-working wife and father of four young children, I have developed an appreciation of PBS programming and Junie B. Jones. When not helping my children down slides at parks or discouraging them from touching museum exhibits, I spend my time failing miserably at racquetball, reading detective fiction, or taming the wilds of my backyard.
